Eve vs. Wisefire - "Aural Textiles"

This performance evolved from a thought by Eveline Keijser, "what is the sound of textile?" From this she researched for ways to make various fabrics produce sound. One way of producing this, is to let it vibrate. And that can be accomplished by using the suction of a vacuum cleaner.

After hearing the composition that Eve made from these sounds, Ysbrand Otjes saw opportunities. Eve got an invitation to perform, and immediately thought of the possibilities of working together, creating an improvisation for vibrating textiles and laptop.

Various delay lines, a custom Max/MSP patch and various other effects are used to process the live sampled sounds coming from various fabrics with different sound colors. beginning from a pure and fairly docile sound but takes you on a ride through a different world, where the aural quality of texile is more important than its physical nature, that of yarn.
